PREMIUM HAY BALING SERVICES

We specialise in baling hay for a variety of livestock needs - mainly dairy cows, beef cattle and sheep. And we offer large size 8 x 4 x 3 bales.

Before baling commences in the paddock special attention is given to testing the hay crop for moisture content to prevent minimal leaf shatter to look after specifics such as ME, NDF and protein levels.

We feed test every paddock after baling. During baling activity we check key indicators, such as moisture levels, bale length and density. Part of our role as contract balers, we can also transport the hay to your storage area.

Also baled in the Wimmera and South Western Victoria are header tailings, windrowed straw and stripper front straw. Dairies like this straw for its high fibre content. Either chopped, sprayed with Hy-Si or not at all … we cover it all.

Mayfield Ag provides quality hay for a wide range of livestock and meeting specific needs of dairy cattle, beef cattle, and sheep.

Dairy cows: We offer baling vetch hay for dairy cows. For dairy farmers it offers nutritional value, minimal leaf shatter with a soft, vibrant colour to suit the needs of milking cows. We supply in cost efficient high density 8 x 4 x 3 bales.

Beef cattle: Another key activity is our baling of hay to meet the needs of beef and feedlot producers. This includes chopping the product and spraying with Hy-Si.

Sheep: Our bales of special hay mixes are ideal for sheep farmers. We offer specialised mixes of oaten, annual ryegrass and sub-clover hay.

Baling straws and a variety of stubbles: Mayfield Ag also bales pea straw to the ideal bale size for bulk buyers of pea straw. This product is great garden mulch, providing high nitrogen for your garden.

Transporting hay is a significant cost for farmers and graziers, so to achieve big economies we have a B-double truck with ultra-low hay trailers to move maximum loads of 70 hay bales from the paddock to storage and to buyers of our hay across the various regions of Victoria, and interstate.

OUR STORY

Brad Mayfield has always had a love for animals. Growing up on his family farm ‘Oakleigh’ in Bulart, South Western Victoria, Brad developed a passion for farming at a young age.

Along with his enthusiasm for animals and farming, Brad and his wife Carla put into practice a plan to improve and grow Oakleigh’s prime lamb production.

The aim was to have their ewes in top condition prior to joining, and this resulted in Brad’s enthusiastic approach to making the best quality silage and hay possible for their ewes. This was the beginning of Mayfield Ag.

With over thirty years experience, Mayfield Ag has built up its range of machines and produces premium hay varieties and mixes, including silage, haylage and straws.

Brad, along with son Izack, equipped with their fleet of machinery, are passionate about helping other farmers to thrive.
